It’s time to shine for Australia’s brightest student designer

The fifth ever Switched On, Brightgreen’s national student design competition, is up and running again. Once again, we’re looking for Australia’s brightest, greenest undergraduate to design the ultimate eco-lighting solution for home or commercial use. Designs can be fixed or freestanding downlights, bulbs, lamps, task lights or any new solution that harnesses LED technology. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to showcase their talent and potentially kickstart their careers; the Switched On 2012 winner, Benjamin Donnelly, received national media attention.

Designs can be submitted from the 14th of September to the 14th of December 2013.


Competition prize

A prize pool of $3,000 will be awarded to the top three designs:

What we’re looking for

The winning design must be:

• ergonomically and aesthetically resolved

• environmentally sensitive

• designed with the aim of longevity and of meeting real needs

• innovative, original and thought provoking

Submission guidelines

To enter, you have to submit 3-5 images of your designs (in two sizes: 812 x 450px and 2436 x 1350) along with a 50-word synopsis and description of up to 200 words.

You can submit your designs to entries@brightgreen.com including details of your undergraduate course and institution no later than 5pm EST December 14th, 2013.

Shortlisted entries will be promoted via social media prior to judging, primarily through a Switched On Facebook photo gallery populated with one image per submission.
