And the winners are...

16th January 2013

Brightgreen conducted its fourth national "Switched On" competition at the end of 2012. The competition always draws a lot of attention from Australia's top design faculties by challenging undergraduate students to create the ultimate eco-lighting solution for home or commercial use.

After a rigorous judging process the winners have finally been announced.

• First prize: Benjamin Donnelly (QUT)

• Second prize: Tamara Kyd (University of Canberra)

• Third prize: Daniel Broder (Swinburne)

The winning design selected by Brightgreen's judging panel was the "Path LED Skirting Board System", by Benjamin Donnelly, an industrial design student at QUT in Brisbane.

Benjamin's innovative and sustainable design allows users to navigate their homes at night through indirect orientation lighting. "It was a solution that could be cleverly adapted to residential or commercial environments." said David O'Driscoll, Brightgreen CEO, head product designer and chairman of the judging panel.

"Benjamin really uncovered the ultimate eco-lighting solution with his design by offering both a practical and sustainable solution."

Congratulations to the three winners from all the team at Brightgreen and well done for all those who entered. It was great to see so many highly creative entries and we hope the popularity of the competition continues. The top three winners will now share in a prize pool of $3,000 for their highly innovative "Switched On" designs.
